Anti-Subjugator

The Iraqi government has started to recruit officers from the old Iraqi army. I think this is a great step forward. I know why the old Iraqi army was disbanded. Basically the neocons wanted to construct a brand new country with brand new unblemished security forces that did not have a history of committing crimes. The idea was to create institutions the same as what we have in the West and see if there is some reason why the Iraqis couldn't have a functional democracy. The experiment was a success - Iraqi democracy is indeed possible. But now that we know that, it is time to bring the Sunnis in from the cold. And recruiting officers from the old army is the way to do that.
